Nostalgia Critic (2007– )
10/10
Still awesome
27 April 2016
When the Nostalgia Critic first came on the Internet, many people accused it of being an "Angry Video Game Nerd" ripoff. In some ways, it's now even more popular than the AVGN. It's amazing the sheer number of people his website has brought and the unbelievable amount of internet celebrities he's interacted with. This guy is pretty much the Kevin Bacon of the Internet having himself or his website somehow associated with Ask A Ninja, Rifftrax, TVTropes, Dragonball Abridged, Awesome Video Games, Press Start, Honest Movie Trailers, How It Should Have Ended, ZTV and even more I'll mention later.

The setup is pretty basic with an angry critic reviewing nostalgic movies. Although if he doesn't like them, how can that be nostalgia? It's just meant to be ironic. After the show seemingly ended, he came back but now does an editorial every other week. I'm just going to say my favorite of all those is the Good Things About The Star Wars prequels. The fact that it's so different and unexpected makes it unforgettable. It's his most viewed list ever! That defies all logic! He's gotten even nicer with the charity shout outs at the end of every video. More people have joined his crew and appeared in episodes making them longer and a bit more of an ongoing story, but still little continuity.

Doug Walker is the most amazing person I have ever heard of in my entire life. He claims Roger Ebert is his favorite critic but he is the ONLY one on RottenTomatoes that doesn't like "Brazil", his favorite movie! He ended up doing Vlogs on virtually every modern animated show in existence...except "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" which is by far the most addictive cartoon in existence! How is that even physically possible?! He's virtually the only Internet celebrity who isn't into Pokémon. If you want someone who likes Pokémon, look up for something by Linkara or JewWario or CR or ThatDudeInTheSuede or the guy who did Pokemonth or JonTron or Kirbopher or LittleKuriboh or Smosh or HappyHarry or Egoraptor or Anthony of Smosh and just EVERYONE BUT HIM!

I admit that "Bridge To Terabithia", "The Matrix" and "Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom" are some of my favorite movies and I'm not going to look at his reviews. I guess the Nostalgia Critic himself is a great example of what it means to have your own opinion or individuality. I admit there are many times where I hate the Nostalgia Critic, but hey, the movies he's panned haven't gotten done in score on this website! In fact, many got higher! I have read trivia books and tons of other things and he is more amazing than anyone else! I mean it. I will never even be intimidated by an atheist okay because I find what he has said to be stranger than the concept of a virgin birth. I mean that!

A video about "South Park" mentioned how the show did not have a consistent idealogy. Neither does this guy. I mean, isn't the fact that he cared about what the real life Patch Adams thought about the movie about him completely contradicted by his real thoughts on "Bridge To Terabithia" where he says he doesn't care what the real life person thought? He cares about the real Patch Adams, but not the real Jess. Not to mention the fact that in said review, he made fun of how dumb religion was even though the real Hunter Adams supports the use of alternative medicine like homeopathy? He simply mocks whatever seems funniest to him at whatever moment. The idea that he's promoting some unified opinion is absolutely insane and don't go around saying Pokémon sucks because he made fun of it or how My Little Pony isn't that good because Doug Walker hasn't done a Vlog on it.

The Critic is by no means a people pleaser and isn't afraid to crap on some of the most loved stuff ever made like "Sailor Moon". At the risk of being redundant, he has no consistent philosophy in his reviews. The good of what he's done outweighs the bad infinitely. If you ever disagree with him on one review, just go and watch another one! That truly is one of the perks of being such a prolific reviewer. You're bound to agree with a lot of important things and just ignore everything is. There were a total of five Sonic cartoons at the time of his review of "Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog" and AOSTH was the SECOND BEST. I'm soooo glad Bennett calls him out on that later. Doug Walker said in commentary he doesn't even DISLIKE THE SHOW even though the episode features him killing the characters! He said nicer things about freaking TMZ than this show! It's absolutely horrifying to imagine what person would make the dumb creator in that video look like the best sonic cartoon. That terrifies me! It really does! It's great to see the Critic interact with all the people on the website in that even though it's purely comedy, there is some consistency in the Universe ThatGuyWithTheGlasses/ChannelAwesome has created. Someone like Linkara acts much nicer and will review more stuff. I even looked at the most frequent guilty pleasures people have on TVTropes, they are Space Jam, Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog, and Pokémon. He's crapped over every single one of them in a huge way!

Please support fair use. I highly doubt at least one of this guy's reviews isn't going to offend you, but he's still freaking funny and truly a piece of Internet fandom and pop culture forever! 10/10!
