Botoks (2017)

A decent movie about life and health care

Warning: Spoilers
This movie has received surprisingly low ratings. Being an enthusiast of Patryk Vega's previous works, I decided to watch the movie and was really puzzled by the huge gap between my expectations based on online comments and the actual product. The cinema hall was almost full (it was the second week of screenings). The audience seemed to enjoy the show. People were laughing in the funny moments and remained dead silent in the serious moments. The movie tells a story of four women (and one transgender person) who are subjected to the burden of difficult choices that health care workers need to make. This is a movie about values in modern life. On top of that, there is a fleshy context of health care exploits in Poland. The action is fast-paced. The dialogues are extremely natural. The acting is wonderful with some of the best actors in the Polish filmmaking industry. As with previous Vega's movies, there is a blend of gore, pathos, and silliness in this movie. This is a mixture that not everyone can take. There were, indeed, some persons who left the show after initial gore scenes. If you have blood phobia, avoid this movie! In summary, this is a really good piece of independent movie-making. If you liked the previous works of Vega's you will surely appreciate and enjoy this one. Go and see for yourselves!
