The Night Shift (2014–2017)
6/10
unexceptional network procedural
16 October 2017
It's the night shift at the San Antonio Memorial Hospital ER. Many of the staff have connections or serve in the military. TC (Eoin Macken) is an Army Ranger doctor struggling with PTSD. Dr. Jordan Alexander (Jill Flint) is his ex. Topher Zia (Ken Leung) and Drew Alister (Brendan Fehr) are also Army. Paul Cummings and Shannon Rivera are two of the younger doctors. Dr. Scott Clemmens (Scott Wolf) has a fling with Jordan.

This wants to be ER with a military spin. It's functional for what it attempts to be but it is not breaking any new grounds. The military aspect can never be big enough although it does try awkwardly sometimes. This is mostly a medical show. A few of the cast have some good chemistry but they can't maintain the serial flow. The romantic melodrama is never that great. The main cast is stable but there is often a shuffling. It's a summer replacement show which eked out four half-seasons.
