Tales of Frankenstein is a 2018 horror film written and directed by Donald F. Glut. The movie stars John Blyth Barrymore, Buddy Daniels Friedman and Jim Tavaré.
The film is based upon four of Glut's short stories published in his book Tales of Frankenstein and does the Frankenstein legend justice.
Part universal, part Hammer. Things go smoothly and very entertaining. This is not a spoof but straight horror and a well made tribute.
I was reluctant to watch when I first heard about it. I thought it was going to be a poorly made spoof. But I was surprised and felt like a young kid again watching the classics. Excellently casted and very genuine sets, costumes, locations and atmosphere rounded out a modern day classic!

'My Creation, My Beloved' - A deformed descendant of Victor Frankenstein creates the perfect man and woman.
Crawler from the Grave' - Another Frankenstein descendant's disembodied, plague-infected arm returns from the grave for revenge.
'Madhouse of Death' - A private detective winds up in an old dark house filled with loonies... and a gorilla.
Dr. Karnstein's Creation' - A mad doctor creates a monster in vampire-haunted Transylvania, with gruesomely unexpected results.
Usually anthologies start out strong as fizz but I can say everyone of these shorts played faithful to the Original Mary Shelley's Frankenstein!
The Original Frankenstein serves as a sort of host before each short, but is very angry with a portrait of Dr. Frankenstein and doesn't really introduce anything!
Each short is unique and different but share the love of Frankenstein and its tradition. Strong casting pulled this off and a very attractive cast provided the all important wenches with cleavage bearing costumes in old English Taverns and on corners as ladies of the night!
There is even a vampire/Frankenstein thrown in here for originality! Maybe a hint for a sequel, Tales of Dracula?
But how fun is this, especially this time of year. Go back in time and sit back and enjoy a well made tribute to a classic!
