There are a few great camera shots early on and one action scene which on it's own would have made this a great film if the believability of the three wise men Bible story didn't take over in the middle and just hollow out this movie's story and rhythm.
I can't fault any true believers out there who like a new testament story but if you don't then this movie won't be for you.
The way this one is done is hard to swallow and your ability to suspend disbelief dissipates quickly. I don't mind that Ford tried to go for an epic story and merge it with a traditional western one but this just doesn't cut it.
I would have given this a 5 or 4 or if not for some of the actors.
There is a brilliant trick photography special effect near the end which helps make this worth seeing in addition to the classic Ford cinematography and brilliant cast.
