Every time the clock starts ticking and subtle, sporadic beats of drum begins to complement it in David Lowery's The Old Man & the Gun, I instantly know that there is going to be an amazing scene ahead where Robert Redford's character uses his gentlemanly suave tactics to rob a bank like you would take a walk in the park, and for those couple scenes spread across the 90-minute breezer that help highlight the life and times of the character are what makes this comedy crime drama a palpable watch, leaving me with the only (grave) disappointment that they left the escapes (for which he was more famous for) to a single 3-minute montage.
