I took my children aged 6 and 10 to see this movie as part of a French film festival as it was billed for kids.
There were many frightening parts in this movie for both my children and they have been having nightmares ever since. The subjugation of women by the 'master men' and kidnapping of only girls introduced distressing ideas into my innocent and carefree little girl's mind and she is not mature enough for me to explain or for her to understand the bigger message of equality, embracing difference and the scourge of misogyny and racism.
Whilst I enjoyed the scenery and many other aspects of this movie, the underground world with subjugated women was bizarre and I would strongly recommend kids less than 13 not see this movie.
Very misleading as the protagonist is a 6 year old girl.
