Not As Good As Mary Lou
26 July 2019
The makers of Prom Night III had a tough job. It's pretty hard to follow a movie as fun and 80's-tastic as Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II which was already a huge improvement over the original film. Prom Night III recasts Mary Lou and brings her into the 90's as she continues to haunt the halls of Hamilton High, but this time, she's looking for a boyfriend and she's willing to do whatever it takes to get him.

Prom Night III has a few laughs (one line over the intercom says something to the effect of "the chess club meeting today is canceled. Players are advised to come to the library and play with themselves.") and the death scenes are somewhat imaginative, but the tone is quite different from the previous two films and it seems to be playing it directly for laughs. Some of the comedy lands and some of it doesn't, but there are worse ways to spend a lonely Tuesday night.
