How to Make a Monster (2001 TV Movie)

The script weighs this tale down. In the end How To Make A Monster is less about tech gone wild than ruthlessness in business, and in regard to this last aspect it is so full of seen-before cliche as to be almost camp, perhaps that's the wrong term, perhaps limp is better. The movie is not without its moments, and as a gauge of overall tech for its day it's OK, even nostalgic. I thought the AI aspect of the show could have been done better, with more special effects such as wires coming alive, rather than just the good old lightening bolt to kick-start the shenanigans. I liked the monster, and the parallel with the game was decent. The sequence where they briefly employ a dancer was classic nerd cool. The excellent actors try their best. But its all just so dated! I did enjoy it though, it was almost left-field, and perhaps was seen as such in its day. If the AI awakening idea could be given a better build up, together with state of the art cgi graphics, then there is a solid storyline here for a fantastic remake.
