The Moodys (2019–2021)
7/10
Wanted more, especially with Dan & Cora storyline
11 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I started watching this show the first night because I thought "Almost Family" was on. I thought why not? Only an investment of 4 hours. Not sure why they say it's a 1/2 hour show when they show an hour at a time. If it possibly continues, it needs to be an hour long.

The worst thing about the show? Elizabeth Perkins' plastic surgery. It distracted me. It made me not like her character. It seemed anyways that the kids had a better connection to the Dad.

The best thing? It's a trifecta! 1) The sizzle between Dan and Cora (which if this series was longer should have been played out way more). 2) the rekindled relationship between Bridget and Monty. Although he's had a crush on her for probably 10-15 years, he realizes she needs his support and friendship more while she's going through her terrible feelings of being a cheater and possibly getting a divorce. Oh, I felt so bad for him walking up that driveway with wrapped kettle balls and seeing her back with her husband. 3) The exchanges between Sean and Sean, Jr. At first, we see (hear) the son's irritation with his Dad, but by the last episode, we see his acceptance as the oldest with responsibilities and the love and respect for his Dad.

As a side note, I liked Jay Baruchel in this. I would though, like to see him do something where marijuana isn't even mentioned. Does that movie or show exist?

As for most reviewers, the draw is Denis Leary. I've always liked his sense of humor. When he gets good material, he runs with it.

So, makers of this limited series, yeah, there were a few flaws, but who doesn't want to see Mr. Leary bald and beautiful and cracking jokes? Spread the Moody cheer in real life: collaborate with a cancer organization and shave his head as a fundraiser. St Baldricks comes to mind.

Happy Holidays to all!!
