Makes "Blink" Look Like Bambi

I have been revisiting some of the best NuWho episodes and had to put off "Midnight" till last. Why? Because it is the most scary, disturbing and downright creepy tale of tension where there are not one but TWO monsters aboard that Crusader tour 'bus.' The one that possesses Sky and Us, the passengers. I say US because one of the most profound aspects you take away with you as the credits role is 'what would I do in the same situation?' Before watching Midnight you would say 'there would be NO WAY, I would EVER murder someone' but then you are confronted with the possibility that you just might not be so sure about it all anymore. The really great shows make us think. We go to bed afterwards and still dwell on what you just witnessed. They talk about hiding behind the sofa? You have no idea what that really means until you see this masterpiece of horror. The characters are fully fleshed out and they don't just feel like they were just put there to be a foil to the Doctor. There is the modern day mom, dad and teenager. The scientist who treats his assistant badly, The business woman who has a schedule to keep etc. A nice friendly bunch who seem to get along well until fear invades their claustrophobic space. They can't leave the bus without being vaporized so they are stuck with this unknown repeating enemy locked inside with them. Tennant, magnificent as ever loses two things here that are important to him: his voice and his belief in the goodness of the human race. As for Blink, yes it is amazing BUT I can re watch it without being scared. Midnight gets its claws into you each and every time and just....doesn't....let....go. Murray Gold's super creepy music, RTD's greatest script ever, Lesley Sharpe is superb and Tennant is, well, Tennant. Along with the rest of the cast make this the undisputed crowning jewel in all of NuWho.
