Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008)

Surprisingly heartfelt, but not as good as it could have been

Although the film can be largely amusing throughout, Zack and Miri struggles to find a balance between its humor and plot without struggling. The film is largely full of some well thought out gags, many of which can lead to laughs, but as the film goes on, it seems to lose its sense of humor. The biggest problem with the film, is its predictability, which makes it frustrating to watch as time goes on and it finally makes it to the end. Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks make for a great pair, however, and the two clearly capture the heartfelt energy the script does seem to be going for. At times, the emotional factor in the film can feel a bit forced, but by the end, it has you rooting for them all the way. In the end, Zack and Miri is not as good as a parody or a comedy as it could have been, but it is still full of a lot of laughs, and enough heart to satisfy, even if it doesn't always land in the right places.
