Entertaining, despite huge plot hole

Warning: Spoilers
Sam leaps into a high school quarterback just before the final play of a game. He luckily helps his team win, setting up a championship game the next week. His character's best friend, Chuey, is his team's top receiver and both are hoping for scholarships to college.

As it plays out, Chuey's mother is pressured by her landlord for three months rent. The landlord is a big time gambler on high school sports. He decides to clean up on the big game by telling Chuey they will be evicted if the team wins the big game--that Chuey must play poorly enough to guarantee losing the game.

The gambler never pressures the QB to try to lose, only a wide receiver. This is the plot hole. If the QB never throws the ball to the receiver, there is little he can do to try to lose--miss a few blocks is about it. The QB, or any of the other players could make big plays without Chuey and win the game despite Chuey doing all he can to try to lose.

The gambler would be a chump to make a large bet just because a receiver is trying to make his own team lose. In the show, Chuey fakes an injury early so as to sit the game out--until just before it ends when Sam's character gets him to play. If Sam's character is really being scouted by several major colleges, as stated, he could certainly have made a big play or two himself, won the game and the gambler would lose his shirt even though the guy he pressured did all he could to help his team lose.

Otherwise, it was an entertaining episode, but not really memorable.
