7/10
Great story which could have been told better

I am upset with myself to rate this movie as 7. This could have got 9 but direction and poor performance by the leading actress bulled the rating down. Nevertheless it's a much watch for teens and grown ups alike.

The story revolves around a house maid (Chanda played by Swara) and her daughter (Apu played by Ria) who has convinced herself that she will grow up to be a maid too. Chanda knows potential of her daughter and want her to take studies seriously to make something good of herself in future. As Apu is distracted Chanda herself joins school and challenges Apu. It's nice to see struggle of a single mother to make her daughter serious about her life.

It was debut for Ashwini as a director. Nice effort, but could have been better. At times the relationship between the maid and Dr Ratna is shown too casual. The set up at Chanda's house does not go well with the surroundings. Camera could have been used better to highlight surroundings to give dramatic effect to the situation.

Finally Swara Bhaskar single handedly pulls the rating down. She sometimes speaks in village accent and at times speaks in her original Delhi accent. Her make up and look does not suit her role. She was a bad choice for this character role.

It's still a good story and a nice break from the star studded dumb Bollywood movies.
