Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall did the 1946 version of "The Big Sleep", and I heard about the mixed reviews of the 1978 version. This version got a lot of classic actors in it. Robert Mitchum, Jimmy Stewart, Richard Boone, Oliver Reed, Joan Collins, and Sarah Miles. What can go wrong? The original which I haven't seen yet, is a classic. In this film, there are some things that the original version didn't have. It dealt with homosexuality, pornographic themes, and nudity in the film. There was more skin, yes. And one of the daughters arrived in the bed of the detective. And he really changed the sheets! I looked at the film, and they changed the scenes slightly. Keeping it 1940's is one thing, adding a touch of modernity was also key. Despite being updated, it was a good film. This movie would have been really bad it was full of unknowns. When you see stars that you know well, you don't jump into rash judgements and start spewing negative reactions. You can compare the two for yourself and be the judge. I liked it. 3 out of 5 stars
