Review of The Children

The Children (1980)
9/10
Should have been called, "Beware of The Children"!

This is a very low budget movie about dangerous children. Yet, it was highly entertaining. "The Children" is like the poor man's "Children of the Damned" in a way. A small yellow cloud hovers around following a leak in a nuclear plant. During a bus ride home from school 5 children who were left on the bus get exposed. Following the cloud pass, the police in the town look desperately for the children. It turned out that they were relatively unharmed. The bus didn't wreck, but no one could find him or the children. The exposure of the gaseous cloud has turned them into murderous zombies. The only distinct features are the black nails. One touch of the children, and the unlucky victim is toasted. Bullets couldn't take them down, but maiming them was key. The movie was entertaining, despite the budget done, it's obvious. If they had more money, they could have made the children a lot creepier. They couldn't wear contacts for a sinister look. More medical staff. Oh well, it's still a good movie. 2 out of 5 stars.
