Nick Cherney (Raymond Burr), the former employee of a trucking company owned by John Torno (George Raft), hires Rocky (Harry Morgan) to murder Torno's brother Jess. Afterwards, John goes on the hunt for the murderer, encountering singer Carla North (Virginia Mayo) along the way.
Red Light is a film of two halves. The first half is a very good noir, with good performances from Raft, Mayo and Lockhart. Burr hams it up as the villain, while Harry Morgan plays a lowlife hoodlum.
The last twenty minutes, however, turn into some religious noir. It's unintentionally hilarious at spots, but it's treated with dead-seriousness by Raft and the director.
Overall, not a super great film, but entertaining nonetheless.
