Saint Seiya: Secret Wars
25 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
For me, the main problem this series has is being a prequel/midquel of the original Saint Seiya, instead of a sequel or an alternate work. Since it is a prequel, the inclusion of many elements feel wasted as they won't have any impact on the overall plot of the Sanctuary Arc in order to not alter the canonical storyline: For example, one episode reveals there was a whole order of Saintias that knew the truth about Saga, but they never had the chance to help, interact or even alert Seiya & co about him, and instead they are unceremoniously killed off without achieving nothing.

Because the Saintia Sho characters are unable to interfere in the events during the Sanctuary Arc, their role feels ultimately pointless, being involved instead in a series of "secret" parallel events which honestly don't add very much.

Perhaps the most positive aspect of this series was having the chance to see Eagle Marin again, a character which sadly was completely forgotten by many of these spin-offs. I kinda wish she and Shaina had a more active role here, instead of the Gold Saints taking once again all the spotlight during the final episodes: I get it, they are very popular. I like them too, but honestly, by the final episodes of this season, they even eclipse the main characters. If I wanted to see another series about them, I would watch Soul of Gold again, or I would read Episode G (I wonder if that manga spin off will ever be adapted into animation)
