Director Hong-jin Na is worth remembering and immediately joins my favourite 5 from Korea.
He's only made 3 movies the past 12 years. Maybe that's why they're all good. And in writing them too, he's an allrounder.
His first, 'The Chaser', was gritty but fun action as a cop who's a pimp spends the movie trying to find a missing prostitute. 'The Wailing' was better, a quirky crime thriller set in a small village.
But 'The Yellow Sea', the one in between, is his best; a slow burning drama becoming an orgy of bloody action.
