It took me a couple of episodes to realize, but there's something else very remarkable about ITV's "Agatha Christie's Marple"... This series is chock-full of multi-talented and stunningly beautiful actresses! Amanda Holden in episode two, and Sophie Myles in episode four, left big and positive impressions on me, but this particular entry features no less than FIVE breathtaking strong women! Kelly Brook, Talulah Riley, Ellen Capron, Emilia Fox and Jessica Hynes (although the latter is made deliberately unattractive) ... All five ladies contributed a lot to me enjoying this splendid adaptation of one of Mrs. Christie's most underrated but extremely clever whodunits.
Jane Marple - as usual, the right spinster in the right place - is visiting her friend in Lymstock, but there are nasty events taking place in the sleepy little village. Someone anonymous is sending around foul letters to everyone in town, spreading indecent rumors and smutty accusations. The letters even already led towards a few suicides, or were they murders after all? Together with another new arrival, a soldier recovering from self-inflicted motorcycle accident, Miss Marple tries to reveal the identity of the devious letter-sender, but there are many suspects with many motives; - also as usual.
"The Moving Finger" is definitely one of my favorite episodes of the show. For the beautiful actresses, of course, but also because the script is a lot more "inviting" to partake in the search for the culprit.
