Show originally was about Christy, a alcoholic for stripper trying to raise 2 kids from different fathers and trying to go straight. She worked as a waitress, went to AA had a druggy ex. and was sleeping with the boss. Anna Ferris was an amazing comedian in this and everyone was rooting for her taking two steps forward and one back.
However, with into of her mother (Allison Janey) things changed rather quickly.
First gone was Christ'y husband, then the kids then the boss then the job and finally Anna Ferris herself. Her starring role became less and less after season four.
There was an addition of four female alcoholics Chisty's mothers age and the showed evolved into a 21st century "Golden Girls".
Sad ending for a great show. Now it's just woke preachy crap aimed at the over 50 crowd.
