Same running time as "The Apartment" but feels twice as long. Maybe that's because it's half as funny. Indeed, aside from Matthau there is no one or nothing that rises above the chuckle level. And the scenes without Whiplash Willie, one of Wilder's most unapologetically amoral anti heroes, tend to be painfully un amusing. Give it a generous B minus, mostly for Matthau.
