The good: It teaches a lot of scientific material in a mostly realistic world.

The bad: It teaches a lot of scientific material in a mostly realistic world.

Oh, and it gets pretty childish in spots.

If I was twelve years old, I would have loved this show.

As an adult, I find that the pacing is too slow, elements too silly, and the entire conflict is a bit ill defined.

Note that I have seen this in countless stories where an anti-technology villain is needed to move the story forward, and he is also charming, intelligent, and powerful. Without modern technology, the evil 'empire' wouldn't be sustainable at what it appears to have for a population in a hunter gatherer society.

At the end of the day, the story is quickly reaching a point where they can't maintain the tension and realistic scientific principles at the same time.

Points were reduced because the initial episodes pacing was rough. The story is limited by the rules of reality. The villain is forced into the role for the sake of what little drama there is. The average adult will not be compelled by the story.

Still going to watch it with both my kids, and I will encourage them to watch it. A great show for younger viewers.
