Totally addicted but not fooled....

Warning: Spoilers
2019 series showing Jan/Feb 21 in the UK - I have to confess that I'm addicted. However I'll call it out on them flying the "reality" flag. Most obviously the strings are being pulled in the background. Some dodgy delivery of scripted lines.

I think it's common knowledge that the couples are not legally married in the Australian version - given away on the home visits. Cyrell still lives with her parents - mum very pointedly had them in separate rooms during the home visit. On the whole the program has the couples removed from the reality of life, putting them up in furnished apartments in Sydney. I appreciate there is a practical side to this. Then there is the wardrobe choices - the weekly dinner party dress code for the men = whatever they like, however for the women - cocktail dress displaying maximum boobage - really!

After watching the first few weeks of this I caught up with the first series of the American version - it was most certainly seemed to be more of a real experiment. The couples had to make decisions about where they were going to set up home together, weighing up their options of setting up in a new apartment, moving into one or the others existing home, costs and work. All a bit more real world but not as addictive as the Aussie version.
