In The Heat Of The Night was a bit of a drama but it's primarily a crime thriller and a better than average one. Its sequel, They Call Me MISTER Tibbs!, is vastly inferior. Considering how the title is derived from a quote from the previous', it might make you inclined to think it would be very similar-too similar. And trying to be another version of the original(as many sequels are) is a far worse idea than doing something different. Because you just never can recreate something as well the second time. However, this film's flaw isn't that it's too much of a copy; They Call Me MISTER Tibbs is simply a lousy film in it's own way.
