Also known as "Enemy of My Enemy"

Don't you love it when your low budget film has one title on the cover, DVD, and DVD menu and then on the title card it has a completely different title? This film is one of those films. Diplomatic Siege (also known as enemy of My Enemy) is a 1999 TV Movie. Upon doing what barely qualifies as research, I found that (according to the internet) this film aired on the USA Network (supposedly). The film is directed by Gustavo Graef Marino (Johnny One Hundred Pesos). The film stars Peter Weller (RoboCop), Daryl Hannah (Grumpy Old Men), and Tom Berenger (Platoon).

Steve Mitchell (Peter Weller) is some computer guy working for the government and is sent to Romania to the US Embassy. Wanting to spend more time with his son, he brings him along. While there, he meets an old friend (Daryl Hannah). While there, some terrorists take over the Embassy and it just so happens that there is a nuclear device under the embassy and it could go off.

This is one of those films where I know it is going to be bad, but perhaps I will be entertained by it somehow. Nope, I was wrong. Diplomatic Siege is a film that many describe as having "wasted talent" and let's be honest, it is true. This film is a poorly made Die Hard ripoff. The main character played by Peter Weller is not even a good action hero let alone a hero at the least (well for the most part). Anything that was done great in Die Hard (which is a ten out of ten film in my book), is done poorly in this film. It is a mess. There are so many different plot threads that it makes this film feel like several different films. You have the father and son plot line. You have the man and female love interest plot line. Lastly, the terrorist plot line. You can keep one of these plotlines and get rid of the rest and nothing would be missed. The acting here is poor with nobody giving any good performances. Again, a huge shame. The action is just generic terrorist shootouts. Usually, mindless shootouts entertain me but the ones in this film hardly do so. The editing in this film is trash. Granted, this is a TV Movie but I have seen good TV movies. The editing is like this: Car is moving towards a pole. The next shot shows car already having crashed. There are a few instances where something like this happens. So, after watching most of this film, the film decides to throw a huge plot twist out of nowhere and I mean out of nowhere. Now, good plot twists do come out of nowhere. But so do bad ones. To me, it does not even make sense for this plot twist to happen. Completely bonkers.

This film is such a mess that it makes my head hurt to a point that I probably missed out on some key points for this film. This film lacks entertainment. Enough said.
