Banana Motherfucker is a short Portuguese horror film, that begins on the Colombian coast.
Here, a film crew has set out to find an ancient cemetery, where the dead are said to live on, long past their burials.
Their plan is to film a documentary about this mysterious locale...in order to discover the truth about horror in the process.
But of the crew of six...only one will make it out alive...
Right off the bat, it gives itself a whole found footage element.
But it's not really a found footage film.
It's more of a fast paced, Troma-esque, horror-comedy, and gore film...where the crew is maliciously maligned by a bunch of raging, killer, bananas.
The sole survivor of the ordeal manages to make it back to Portugal...but he unwittingly brings the curse with him...where it continues to wreak havoc...before spreading across the entire world.
To London...San Francisco...Montreal...andthensome...
It really gives new meaning to the phrase "going bananas".
At only 16 minutes in length...it's pretty much a non-stop gore laden action from start to finish.
And despite the fact that it's pure cheese...there really are some solid special effects- especially in the first part of the film.
Mostly, however, it's just a whole lot of fun.
I do believe it was eventually picked up and released by Troma, and given some sort of release.
So you might be able to find a DVD, but you can watch the whole thing on Vimeo, like I did, in the meantime.
