If you want another crash course in stock trading on a smaller level than "Wall Street," then this could be the movie for you.

"Boiler Room" is about a shady brokerage firm full of young, hungry, totally dishonest white men who are making a lot of money. You've heard of theater plays that are "off Broadway?" Well, this firm called JT Marlin was off Wall Street. It was in Long Island, NY and it was full of sharks. A brilliant, yet slightly misguided young man named Seth (Giovanni Ribisi) lands in this firm after a couple of their sharks visit his underground casino. The firm was a way for him to go legit while still making a quick buck.

A series of small observations led Seth to believe that JT Marlin wasn't a legitimate brokerage firm. Even though he wasn't beyond lying to make a buck, his conscience wouldn't let him become a full predator.

The movie is fast moving, exciting, and cast well. Ben Affleck, Vin Diesel, Nia Long, and Jamie Kennedy bring some name recognition while also bringing their A game. Generally, I'm not a fan of Vin Diesel, but he seemed well-equipped for this role. "Boiler Room" is a tight movie even if I didn't understand every detail.
