Tom Cruise pushes himself to to the limits for entertainment
29 December 2021
The fourth iteration of the "Mission: Impossible" series is a film with a captivating story, great action, and incredible stunts. It improves on "MI-3" in multiple ways. The story is easier to follow and arguably more interesting and enjoyable, while also shedding some of the unnecessary twists and sidetracking of the older movies. With another great performance from Tom Cruise, "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" is certainly a big improvement on its predecessors and the best entry of the first four "Mission: Impossible" movies.

Throughout the entire film, the action is persistently great. While not as hard-hitting and brutal as other competing movies in the genre it makes up for it with its great stunts performed by mainly Tom Cruise. There are many stunning stunts throughout the film but maybe the most impressive one is performed on the outside, I repeat, the outside, of Burj Khalifa. Having watched behind-the-scenes footage, it is safe to say that Tom Cruise is a man to admire. If not for the person, then for the actor and the performer. Regardless of his views, he has to be respected for how he pushes himself to the limits for entertainment.

Continuing on, the story is exciting and interesting. With the story being an aspect in which its predecessors all were lacking, it is great to see the movies of the franchise continue to improve on one another, time after time. With that being said, however, it still isn't flawless. The first two thirds of the film are great with a fast pace, an exciting plot, and great action ever-present to back the story up. The last third of the movie, however, loses the pace of the other acts and fails somewhat to hold up the standard of action and storytelling.

To summarize, "Ghost Protocol" is like "MI-3" an improvement on all of its predecessors, but it still isn't able to completely perfect its art. "Ghost Protocol" has great action and an enjoyable story that keeps the viewer on their toes for the duration of the entire 2 hours and 12 minutes of cinema. For all fans of the action genre, "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" is a film worth a watch and a film that I would recommend to anyone.
