Time Is Up (2021)
2/10
Bad for no reason whatsoever except the director and music!

If you look at the script by itself, it is not great and completely sophomoric, but not horrible. It is somewhat passable, albeit vapid and age old. A young woman's perfect little world is turned upside down by lies, a boy who feels like a failure even when he isn't really, but he can't shake the feeling. In the hands of a different Director, Editor and Music Director, this could have worked much better. Would have helped to have better actors too, and the constant use of soap opera music takes it to an unnecessarily absurd level of childishness.

The childish use of music and glamour shots overwhelms the entire story and thus film.

In the right hands, Bella Thorne can be a quite powerful onscreen performer, but she can't carry a film if not handled correctly it seems. Pretty as he is, the lead Roy character, is not a strong enough actor for the part. He's just bad, sorry. His dad is not much better, nor is the boyfriend Steve, nor the swimming coach. Surely they must have been classmates of the Director, and/or family.

Perhaps it was really made for 12 year olds, then perhaps it wasn't as sophomorically idiotic as it seemed! It just hit its audience. Otherwise, it is just sadly childish.
