Warning: Spoilers
It takes an hour for this film to really get going with all the detail leading up to the exposure of drug traffickers in Malaysia. John Polson what is a nervous wreck, and practically gives it away, ending up in prison and sentenced to be hung for his crime. You're supposed to feel sorry for Polson because he's been involved in a serious car accident which resulted in the death of a girlfriend, and with a settlement resulting from that, he ends up going on a trip where he hooks up with Hugo Weaving, resulting in serious criminal charges. His mother, Julie Christie, goes to the prison to plead for his release, wanting the charges to be dropped. That is a biggest disturbing element of it in the fact that they obviously committed a very serious crime, and she just wants her son's to be slapped.

At nearly three hours, this tedious two part Australian TV movie does not win the sympathy that is so blatantly begs for, and in spite of the exotic location, is very dull and agenda-driven. Christie's character in particular is very aggravating, counselor and as much as I like her in other films, I could have done without her in this. In fact, I could have done without a good hour of this film which easily could have been covered in an hour and 40 minutes. A frizzy haired Sarah Jessica Parker is an American tourist who happens to witness the arrest, and approach is Christie in what she witnessed. Victor Banerjee is the defense attorney, expected by Christy to take take the case gratis. Truly an eye-rolling experience.
