Good intentions, deplorable presentation!
21 February 2022
The concept of capturing the milieu and impact of characters on the young Tony Soprano (yes, Michael Gandolfini!) to provide the development of the television series The Sopranos is relevant. The script and direction are weak, and the extremes of racial violence and anti-Vietnam War clashes and other extraneous brutality and foul play are excessive, underscored with an exceptionally loud and overpowering music 'soundtrack' - all drown this film. The cast is strong but poorly directed and the result is a movie that failed at the box office and provides visual and aural nausea in the DVD. Grady Har.
