Hats off to a great movie.

Warning: Spoilers
Right off the rip, this movie has spoilers for the next season(s). If you're a purist strict anime watcher then maybe don't watch this just yet given how much they show and allude to in the future. I personally think they're harmless scenes but its up to you.

Absolutely enjoyed myself in the theatre watching this. I watched it in dub and I don't think it'll make a big difference. I don't really write reviews so I'll just list the pros and cons, let you decide for yourself!

Pros: Animation was top tier! Given how MAPPA has blessed us with the first season of JJK (and CSM coming soon!!) they really did their best on this.

Pretty cool that 95%-100% of JJK:0 was put on the screen, given how long the chapters. Even the little parts I thought would be left out were in (e.g. Panda teasing Maki and Yuta).

This is a horror movie! There is grotesque and creepy imagery! There is blood! Adult themes! Yeah, granted its Jujutsu Kaisen but I was seriously creeped out at some parts (Rika gaining her eye after the kiss was, for some reason, gross as hell to look at!).

Lots of easter eggs and awesome additions as well! For example, in the manga, Nanami was talking about his Black Flash record being 4 consecutive times. He uses it in this movie four times (I found myself counting) and instantly remembered he mentioned it before! Pretty cool to see that one of many easter eggs. Lots of new things were added in too such as extended fight scenes between characters who's fights were off screen (or they weren't even shown in JJK:0). Fans of the anime/manga will enjoy those. Of that I have no doubt!

Another thing I found myself enjoying was how Yuta was portrayed. He's not this innocent guy who's been cursed (he never was innocent and he knows that). Seeing his character development was real nice throughout the film. Especially in the last fight with Real Geto, Yuta kissing Rika and unlocking her final form. The whole theatre I was in cried out "what the hell!?" "He kissed her!?" "Whats wrong with him!?!? Weirdo!!!" Hahaha that's just the kind of guy Yuta is hahaha.

Pretty awesome to see characters that were given a heavy side character treatment in the manga get a bit more fleshed out and showcase (i.e, Miguel, Mei Mei, even Ino a bit)

Cons:

Wasn't really a fan of the voice actor for Yuta. I mean, he did a good job but there were moments when he could have added much, much more emotion. After all, in JJK vol. 0, Yuta gets very emotional when he's fighting Geto. Iunno, the actor could have done a better job in my opinion.

Personally, I wish there was more of Rika but oh well. Although being an up to date manga reader, Geto still felt a bit shoehorned in. And his motivations while yes, were made clear, still felt a bit alien. Like ok, yes he feels that way because of that reason but ultimately, WHY did he choose this path? Left a bit more mystery to a character than interest, in my opinion. Hope that made sense.

Final thoughts:

If haven't seen Jujutsu Kaisen at all (anime and manga), you'll still enjoy this movie.

If you have seen Jujutsu Kaisen, but only the anime, you'll like this movie.

If you've seen Jujutsu Kaisen, both anime, manga, and Vol. 0, you'll really like this movie.

If you've seen Jujutsu Kaisen, both anime, manga, Vol. 0, AND you're caught up with the *LATEST* chapters then there's a high chance you'll nerd/weeb the hell out watching this movie! At least, I did hahahah.

Also, there's a post credit scene. Even if you miss it, its insignificant. Still, it is cool to see Yuta's new hairstyle in anime form. Looking forward to the Culling Game in Season 3/4!

9/10.
