Warning: Spoilers
I am basing this completely on this movie alone and not any other connection in terms of previous television series or installments.

Somewhat unfair since it feels as if you need to know something in order for it to elevate it to any logic. To me that is poor moviemaking.

That said, the concept is pretty interesting. A young man whose girlfriend dies in a horrific manner, is now "cursed" with having her ghost hover over him as a protector (of sorts). Because he can't function in any real school, he is taken out and put into an academy which harnesses people who have these similar curses. Use a cursed person to fight cursed people, seems like the answer.

It takes a lot from X-Men comics. We see a relationship between the recruiter and the protagonist. As they were once friends, ala Professor X and Magneto.

But things get muddled as he is put through challenges with his "classmates" The animation is a mix between anime and some very childish sketches. They seem to put stingers into the flick and takes you a little bit to get use to it. The story isn't anything really original. It's an origin story of a guy who discovers his purpose, in terms of using his powers to save...um...Tokyo? Hard to tell.

To be honest, I fell asleep a few times in the theater, because the images seem so...lethargic.

It's still pretty good, but not good enough I'd ever watch it again.
