Review of The Kovak Box

The Kovak Box (2006)
7/10
interesting idea...mostly good.

Soon after writer david norton (tim hutton) arrives at an island off spain, strange things begin to happen. Mysterious deaths, called suicides, are occurring. Norton teams up with silvia (lucía jiménez) to try to figure out what is going on. And the root of it all may have come from one of norton's own books. Good suspense. The closer norton and silvia get to the truth, the more people are dying. And the conspiracy is pretty high up, so if anyone does believe them, nothing good will come of it. The story is quite good, but every now and then, the main characters say or do something completely unlikely, or just goofy. Co-stars david kelly, who played grandpa in the 2005 charlie and the chocolate factory. He was already 77 years old when he made kovak. Very similar to a michael crichton book. Directed by Daniel Monzón. Has won a lot of film festival awards for his projects.
