I'm certainly NOT the target audience for this one!
8 May 2022
I am a guy in my 50s, so I clearly am NOT the target audience DIsney was looking for when they released "Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience"! So why would an oldster like me see a film intended for teens and pre-teens? Well, the film recently made IMDB's infamous Bottom 100 List...and I have made it a life goal to see as many of these films as I possibly can. A few are simply not available in English or with English subtitles, though I still have managed to see about 90 of these 100 films currently on the list.

The film is a fictionalized and highly polished version of the Jonas Brothers putting on a concert. The concert looked real enough but the behind the scenes portions seemed about as spontaneous as the moon landing! You aren't going to learn much new about the boys...and the film is NOT like a real behind the scenes look at them.

So is it THAT bad that it belongs on the Bottom 100? Well, it is hard to say since the style of this movie is so unusual. I also think that some of the hatred of the film is that it's become very popular to trash the Jonas Brothers band, as they are by 2022 passé....no longer the big deal they were back a dozen or so years ago. So, hating on the film would be akin to heaping hate on a disco film long after disco has come and gone.

So what did I think about this film? Well, as an old fart, I found the Brothers music agreeable enough....they ARE talented even if people today tend to discount them and their heavily orchestrated performances. So, the film did NOT make my ears bleed or fill me with a longing for an early death!

Overall, I'd say that for what this is (a concert film geared at a very narrow audience), it's really not horrible. It certainly isn't a film meriting a 1.6 on IMDB like it currently is. I read through many of the reviews and they tended to ONLY have ratings of 1 or 10...which shows just how polarizing the film can be. BOTH extremes are ridiculous. A 1 is wrong because at least TECHNICALLY the film is competently made. A 10 is wrong because the film reveals nothing about this prepacked Disney band...nothing. I cannot understand either extreme.

By the way, my family has no idea I watched this movie, as I watched it when everyone was busy doing other things. I am pretty sure they would have saidWHY??? Why are you watching the Jonas Brothers? Please don't tell them.... I don't want them to lose even more respect for me than they already have!
