Warning: Spoilers
It's a real odd couple here with the pairing of stage and screen legend Don Ameche and Joe Mantegna, on the road together in a last weekend of freedom for Ameche, having signed a confession to a murder he did not commit, hoping to retire to Sicily on a fishing boat after he gets out in 3-5 years. Ameche and Mantegna end up in Lake Tahoe where Ameche is presented as a celebrity so his confession will be more believable. But everything that occurs indicates that Ameche will not be doing the time as he keeps charming everyone he meets.

It's hard to steal scenes from the charismatic Mantegna, but Ameche easily does that, and Mantegna seems to be looking at him in awe, both in character and with the respect of an experienced actor towards an icon. This is a very sweet movie in spite of the set-up, with Robert Prosky quite memorable in a smaller part as an obvious mob boss completely taken in by Ameche as well. William H. Macy gets some funny moments as a very nervous chauffer. Not much to the story, but it's done right.
