"You have to promise you won't fall in love with me". I mean... I know this is a Nicholas Sparks film but, *CUE BARF*
This film depicts Christians, in the form of perfectly sweet Jamie, to be the moral compass of the world. Anyone who isn't Christian is clearly out of control, breaking the rules and hurting themselves and other people. Who better than a perfect Christian Jamie to come save the heathen from his lost cause?
I remember loving this as a child because of the cute romance between the VERY unlikely pair, but the cliches, the stereotypes, the innocence and purity of poor Jamie was a bit much. If Hollywood is trying to convert atheists with this movie they have a very poor understanding of people outside of the church. This movie just made me want to jump off a platform into a shallow pool of water.
5 stars because I like Mandy Moore and yet she made me hate her. Not bad acting for a 17 year old.
