A mystical, fantastical, romance?
3 September 2022
I haven't written a review in a very long time but I felt I needed to because I knew nothing about it and wouldn't have seen it if it wasn't for National Cinema Day.

The only thing I knew was Idris Elba was in it and someone else who I couldn't remember. So I went in blind but I came out loving it. I'm not going to spoil it. What I will do is tell you a few other movies I love that it evoked at least in the emotional vibe of it. Don Juan De Marco. The Fountain. Cloud Atlas. And at the very end I realized it reminded me of one of my all-time favorite movies, Xanadu. If those kind of movies speak to you, I think you should like this one.

What also impressed me about it is that it allowed its main character to be obviously intelligent but also someone who had no qualms believing in something most pseudo-intellectuals would scoff at.

There was one moment that made me think it was about to go woke but it didn't and it just improved from there. I'm afraid this film will get lost. But with stars like Idris Elba and TIlda Swinton, directed by George Miller, it really shouldn't.
