Absolutely brilliant anime and loyal to the light novel although too many the light novel are hundreds of pages per volume. They execute the anime adaptation masterfully. It's totally one of the finest rpg style anime out there with unique style and incredible well done plots.
The world eventually is fleshed out in some interesting ways and some of the side characters like Enri are interesting the problem for me lies in how generic the world presents itself, we have a convoluted magic system that can do everything until it doesnt, knigths that are either boy scouts or just living garbage, no actual plot structure every arc feels very disconnected from the next and an actual interesting cast of monsters that get shafted for generic fantasy characters for the most part.
If you like Isekai you will enjoy Overlord as an overall anime is average.
