Warning: Spoilers
I have watched this series only in reruns and it has grown on me. It is a solid comedy, with much of the comedic energy supplied by Steve Howey (as Van) and Melissa Peterman (as Barbara Jean).

Reba McEntire plays the central character and she shows again that she can hold down a comedic role, with a facility for broad acting. Though usually the "straight man", she gets her share of the laughs playing the mother and ex=wife around which the other characters revolve.

You can watch Melissa Peterman in a more subdued role in "Young Sheldon" now. On "Reba", she is over the top with her mugging and mannerisms, where she plays the other woman who steals Reba's husband yet, through force of will, enters Reba's social circle and eventually wins her over.

The core idea of the series has to do with a family that changes in order to remain viable. It's a heart-warming story that takes the central-family theme of most classic sitcoms, like "My Three Sons" or "The Brady Bunch", and updates it to include a more modern view of family.
