Went to see this movie with my kids. Yes I know it's a kids movie, but. It started with a Roman style chariot race and went downhill from there. (Yes, I'm aware that of course the Egyptians had chariots, but I haven't seen any evidence of them raving around a colesseum like stadium).
The thing that I found extremely unnecessary (this is my first review - I wanted to warn parents about this theme) was the main character Thut repeating throughout the movie about the threat (by the Pharoah) of having his tongue and eye's removed if he didn't marry the princess. Once, I would have let go, but he kept saying it. It's a kids movie! This horrific concept isn't something they should be exposed to - even if it just being talked about. As I said - he KEEPS saying it!
The Egyptian theme had lots of typical stereotypes, but seemed all over the place.
They had a star gate, which seemed to be a ripoff from the 90's movie Stargate Thut has an English accent. I get that for simplicity the movie was made in English, but still, put a bit of effort in.
There was much more. Why is there a Nickelback song?
I just wish they could have put more effort in to creating an environment that might have actually shown kids some themes about Ancient Egypt, so they might be interested in learning about the amazing culture and history.
Overall, it's a pretty forgettable movie.
