Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2022) - How to Spoil Outstanding Characters
20 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a 2022 film produced by Nickelodeon and published in the Netflix catalog, a film that continues the animated series of the same name but the story works regardless of whether you watch the series or not, in the plot the four Turtle brothers are self-centered thanks to their powers, now no villain was a match for them, this leaving everyone lazy except Rafael who was always looking for training and focus, the situation changes when an alien race invades the planet earth and steals the powers of the Turtles, forcing Helps them return to their roots in hand-to-hand combat and fight to prevent the Krang conquest of the land. This movie, brought me extreme sadness and anger towards the work, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles always has a striking feature that is the personality of each character, each one is very charismatic within their proposed personality and it always worked very well, no matter if the movie it was bad or not but the characters were so good that it made you create a certain affection for them, I don't know how it is in the animated series but in this movie the characters' personalities are completely changed and it still manages to be bad, like Leonardo who is always focused, he cannot flow well in socialization, he always tries to maintain his posture as a leader and guide his brothers to do the missions in the best possible way, in this film Leo became a kind of Mickey 2.0, completely inconsequential, which he would not complain if he were well written but it's not, the characters totally lost their essence and turned into anything other than Ninja Turtles, that frustrated me a lot. The story is the height of the generic and meaningless, an alien race enters the earth, the protagonists who were strong are now weak and have to reinvent themselves to face these creatures and save the day, the impression I have is that the screenwriters got it everything that is generic but that would please a child and put it in this film, because there is no good story it is just things happening and when the script has a chance to give a dramatic tone, they simply abandon it to have one more predictable and generic event for the Turtles save the day, too disappointing.

The jokes and humor, which is also a very good feature in the characters, here in this film it is null, they even try to make several and several jokes but it is impressive how none of them works, everything is so artificial and unnecessarily exaggerated, it seems that someone ingested several dyes and now it's vomiting rainbows because this film is diarrhea, this is so noticeable in the script that the film with just under an hour and a half appears to last four hours, it is so tiring. I think the only thing I can praise is the animation, as much as I'm not a fan of the artistic style the animation is actually very good, fluid and with a very decent look, but I think that's all because even the battles are confusing in this film, there comes a point of having so much on the screen, it tries to pollute, so much cutting that I no longer know what was going on, as I mentioned above: this film is diarrhea! I definitely hated this movie and I was discouraged to watch the new animated series, there are works that change things but it ends up being better than the original, this movie is otherwise where they change for the worse, it completely lost its originality and what Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles did being Ninja Turtles, has become some forgettable work that at most will make your 5-year-old child distracted.

It was a pretty disgraceful experience, I love Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and seeing things like that come out of these characters I love so much is pretty sad, Nickelodeon has gone downhill a lot in the last few years as has Cartoon Network, I know there will probably be people moaning about the movie because it's " film for children" but this argument is invalid, there are so many films and works made for the target audience to be children but at the same time manage to have a depth and stories that everyone can watch and even get emotional. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has always stood out for its humor and story, to have that taken away is like ripping someone's heart out.,
