Absolute banger of a movie! Pride of Tamil, or even Indian cinema!
28 April 2023
This movie has all the essentials of a gripping story. To start us off, we have the conflict of the story. The Pandyas who seek revenge on the Cholas, Nandhini who secretly plots against the Chola Kingdom, and an enemy left behind from the war with Rashtrakutas by Aditha Karikalan. The first part only introduces to the atmosphere of the "real deal", which is the sequel of to the film. This movie is where the tension rises, and true faces of characters are revealed. How characters withstand, and resist the incoming threat to their kingdom is the soul of the film.

My thoughts: Wow! First things first, hats off to the technical team of this film! They rocked...The VFX was amazing, the sets were marvelous, the costumes were suited for the time period of the film. The cameraman, did an amazing job here, with beautiful and crisp shots. And AR Rahman, is as usual the rockstar here. His work won't go unnoticed because the BGM was simply felt in every moment of this magnum opus. Every actor of the cast did a fantastic job! Chiyaan Vikram lived his character no shots in the film felt artificial, Jayam Ravi is well suited for his role of Arunmozhi, Karthi as usual killed it with his amazing stunts and acting, Trisha did an amazing job. And Aishwarya Rai, man her expression it self tells a thousand words! Her acting was simply spectacular! Every single side artist also did wonderful jobs! Mani Ratnam yet again proves his dedication, with amazing directions.

In summary, this magnum opus is something to be celebrated. The screenplay was on point, and no point in the film felt slow or laggy. Everything went by so fast! Definitely a mega-blockbuster.
