Hilarous and fascinating epic

Warning: Spoilers
Masterpiece of a sober but superb aesthetic, whose intelligent and rich intratextual staging, flavor of horilka and sweet ancestral musical lullaby, does not leave out of Nikolai Gogol's canvas a fascinating plethora of Ukrainian folk songs (i.e, "A fish was dancong with a crayfish, with a crayfish!", or "earth, bless me earth..") as a pretext when addressing in a hilarious and at the same time dramatic tone, the chronicle of the lineage of the grandfather of the sacristan Foma; epic that gives rise to the fantastic adventures of the Cossack Vasyl -armed with his pistol and his on his journey to Petersburg corresponding to the safe-conduct of the Tzarina and the request of the hetman. Before leaving on his amazing tour of witches and demons, like a Cid campeador, all the neighboring villagers will charge Vasyl with their own requests, from the woman with her sick husband, to Aunt Maryna, or the uncle who provides him with magic tobacco. To use against his enemies. On the way, he immediately runs into the famous Iván, who confronts him as soon as he becomes inseparable from him and together they will face the hosts of Ostape and other peculiar characters until the lighthearted although nostalgic end, when Vasyl notices himself in the palace of the Tzarina that Baroness von Lichtenberg is Odarka? And so with the Mohammedan faith, the traveler returned home, at the expense of being taken as a competitive liar on his return, due to the grandiloquence of the waltzes that he said he performed in those parts.
