"Host-ESS!!" - there it is.

Story aside, for it is not for me or my demographic, so I will focus on the things that makes this a film and a good one to boot.

Xavier Dolan is a talented ftfkr, no question, he has the maturity and the cinematic language to convey emotions subtly and powerfully to the same effect. The actors, guided by Dolan, are all excellent, all showing their emotional journey through change and the effects of change. I liked the film as a whole and I'm sure that if Xavier tackles a more mainstream story, he will hit it out of the park. If he chooses this path, which he is on, that's fine as well...

The film is long, it's three hours, but it does have that turning point in the middle and so it feels like two movies stitched together...much more bearable. Every scene is thought out, image-wise and production design-wise, it keeps things interesting and curious where it all goes.
