Why you don't get high off your own supply? Because you start to believe the BS you're selling. When dealing drugs you're in it to make money. And when you're in the business to make comedy you're meant to entertain, this was clearly setup to entertain just those involved. A few gags here and there but not worth suffering through the setups. What a lazy bunch of writing, same jokes over and over again, quickly became stagnant and worn out. Like The Mighty Boosh was made for people on acid or shrooms, this was made for stoners locked to their couches. Johnny Vegas can be funny and he has some decent jokes in here, but there is way too much dead space between his bits to make it worth watching. I got sick of seeing the exact same characters doing the exact same act over and over again, when it wasn't really all that funny the first time around, unless you're into watching a horse get beat to death I just don't see how this made it so many seasons when really good content gets cancelled after just a few.
