"Changing pin colours without human assistance no less!"
8 July 2023
Richard Boone plays cemetery manager Robert Kraft, he's new to the job but quickly finds that he has an apparent ability to cause death to grave plot owners. There is a large wall mounted map of the graveyard showing all of the plots, black pins are inserted for the deceased, white ones for those who have bought a plot but have not yet died. He accidentally puts black pins into plots instead of white ones, before you know it these people are dead. I found this to be an interesting and original idea, apparently it influenced author Stephen King to write his story "Orbit" (which I don't think that I have read). The cemetery caretaker is an old Scotsman called Andy McKee, enjoyably played by Theodore Bikel. "Man, you got to eat if you want to keep above the ground" is an example of his wit and dialogue. In over forty years of watching horror movies this was a first time watch for me, courtesy of the wonderful Talking Pictures TV (UK) channel. I enjoyed it, it's an interesting and quite creepy little movie though I found the explanation of the deaths at the end a little disappointing.
