How did this movie come to being?
The only thing that stands out when watching it is that it looks and feels like a student film. Quick and (theoretically) sarcastic dialogues, heavy on four letter words, but that reflect a lack of understanding of human nature (also called lack of maturity), which make every character profoundly uninteresting, unrelatable. Overly planned, academic shots that try hard to present an interesting structure, but ultimately scream "I picked this from a textbook". Forced "mise en scène" that looks like a poor attempt to reproduce Wes Anderson, Tarantino, maybe Godard. But heavens it's so bad! And ultimately it's not funny. It's not funny. And this is a comedy.
Well it's not a student film. Scott Caan has made dozens of movies. The director, John Swab, has made at least five! Unbelievable.
