Good but room for improvement
5 August 2023
Only seen 4 episodes thus far so suspending final judgment but , overall, better than I had anticipated. It could have been better yet if it had focused more on the politics - very tricky for everyone - and less on Thomas Seymour and Catherine Parr getting it together. And, while I'm in Aunt Edna mode, I can add that the modern swear words jarred as well. Whatever the 16th century equivalents might have been, no-one would have dared to come out with language like that in front of the King or his sisters.

The series' strong point is in conveying the delicate situation for both Henry VIII's daughters and Edward VI's courtiers. The boy-king himself is convincingly portrayed - regal and intelligent but too young and inexperienced to control the wasps' nest.
